A Parenting Gift

As the calendar turns to a new year, most people pause for reflection and focus on goals for the coming year.  For many, weight loss is at the top of the list.  We know that we have accomplished our goal when we see the ARROW point to the target number on the scale.  Without careful planning and preparation, it is unlikely that the arrow will end up where we desire.  Have you ever considered parenting in the same way?  God’s word says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.  Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!” Psalm 127:3-5
Just as arrows are designed to be released from the bow, our children are meant to be prepared with wisdom and filled with godly values before being released into the world.  This release should happen gradually and intentionally, but it can be challenging to know HOW to do that in a world that is pressing in on our families and values every day.  

Family Life’s “Art of Parenting” is a GIFT that God gave us just when we needed it!  God has used Art of Parenting to build our faith in Him and His word.  It has sharpened our focus and helped us create an intentional plan for how to point each of our kids’ unique hearts toward the God who created and loves them.  The format of the class is an engaging small group experience.  Our group openly shared their insights, valuable resources, parenting “wins” and parenting struggles, and we prayed for and encouraged each other.  We were renewed and refreshed as we walked through the weeks together, and our relationships have continued beyond the class.  This is the power of Christ-centered community! 

Raising children is a long and challenging task that requires time, prayer, discipline, involvement, and relationship-building.  No matter what stage of parenting you are in, if you are single, married, a blended family or foster parents, Art of Parenting will equip you with tools to aim your children’s hearts toward God and your “arrows” into the world to shine His light.
